Chavit Singson is pledging P5 million to Carlos Yulo if he reunites with his family.
The entrepreneur and former Ilocos governor took to Facebook to share his proposition for the Olympian.
Hindi [dahil] sa panalo niyang gold sa [Olympics], more on sa pamilya,” he said in a video statement.
After winning two gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Yulo’s family has been embroiled in controversy. The 24-year-old gymnast responded to his mother’s statements in a previous interview about his relationship with Chloe San Jose and the alleged mishandling of his past winnings. He also said that he had forgiven his mom, Angelica Yulo, for these “a long time ago.”
A day later, Angelica held a press conference to apologize to the athlete, breaking down in the process, and to offer a path to reconciliation.
Singson said in his statement that it may be hard to bring together Yulo and his mother because of their past.
‘Yung nanay ang kinakausap pa kasi masama ang loob nung bata kasi may away yata noong nakaraan,” he said.
Asked about what happens if the family is incomplete in their reunion, Singson said that he would still give the P5 million.
Honor thy father and mother, ‘di ba?”
The entrepreneur also asked Yulo to forgive his mother. Kaya magbibigay ako ng P5 milyon sa pamilya niyo kung mapatawad ninyo ang isa’t isa,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Olympian’s father, Mark Andrew Yulo, said in a previous interview with GMA News that he hoped for a family reunion after the win.
He was also seen in the crowds of the welcome parade for the Philippine Olympians on Aug. 14 holding a banner with the words “Caloy, dito papa mo” and making a heart gesture to his son.
Yulo expressed gratitude to his father on Facebook: “Maraming salamat Pa, masaya ako nakita kita don nakasuporta! Kitakits soon Pa,” Carlos wrote on his caption.
