For his efforts to help people, actor Gerald Anderson received a recognition.
GERALD ANDERSON – The actor received the PCG Auxiliary Search and Rescue Medal and Ribbon for his rescue efforts during Carina.
Several lives were claimed from Typhoon Carina which was strengthened by habagat and hundreds of thousands were displaced at the height because of the heavy rain that caused severe flood. Amid the deep waters, among the people exerting effort to save those who were stuck and stranded was Kapamilya actor Gerald Anderson.
Gerald rescued a stranded family and other people and this is something he’s been doing during intense calamities. To recall, in 2009 during the Typhoon Ondoy, he also joined the efforts to rescue stranded people.
To recognize a hard work from the actor, he was awarded. Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant, CG Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan, awarded the actor the PCG Auxiliary Search and Rescue Medal and Ribbon for his heroic efforts during onslaught of Super Typhoon Carina in the National Capital Region.
Anderson joined the Philippine Coast Guard’s K9 Special Support Squadron in 2016. The Squadron is focused on humanitarian missions and disaster response operations. In September 2021, he was promoted to Auxiliary Commander of the said Squadron.
According to the PCG Auxiliary website, this medal is awarded to those who do voluntary efforts and “exemplary acts in the conduct of search and rescue” with the goal to save lives.
In a previous article, his girlfriend Julia Barretto is proud of him. The actress expressed this in an interview but admitted that she was also worried at the same time. As much as we all know, her boyfriend’s act of kindness went viral and it was an initiative many people deeply admired about him.
