‘It’s Showtime’s’ annual ‘Magpasikat’ competition concluded with Team Ogie Alcasid, Kim Chiu, MC Muah, and Lassy Marquez clinching the title of Grand Champions for 2024.
The team received the top score from a panel of five judges after delivering a performance on October 22 that highlighted their personal journeys and challenges in showbiz.
ABS-CBN Broadcasting Head Cory Vidanes made the announcement, prompting emotional reactions from both Kim and Ogie, who shared a heartfelt embrace, while Kim celebrated enthusiastically.
The victory marks Kim’s back-to-back win in ‘Magpasikat,’ adding to her titles from 2020, 2021, and 2023. For Ogie, MC, and Lassy, this year’s victory was a milestone, marking their first win in the celebrated anniversary competition.
As a gesture of solidarity, the team dedicated their PHP300,000 cash prize to Typhoon Kristine victims through the Angat Buhay Foundation. “Malaking tulong po ito sa mga nasalanta,” Kim shared, visibly moved by the opportunity to give back.
Judges for this year’s ‘Magpasikat’ included notable personalities such as director Rory Quintos, actors Donny Pangilinan, Gabbi Garcia, Alice Dixson, and former ABS-CBN president Freddie Garcia. Their support and appreciation for Team Ogie and Kim’s powerful performance underscored the competition’s theme of resilience and perseverance.
In second place was the team of Jhong Hilario, Cianne Dominguez, and Jackie Gonzaga, earning a PHP200,000 prize. The team of Anne Curtis, Jugs Jugueta, and Teddy Corpuz secured third place.
Celebrated annually since ‘It’s Showtime’s’ first anniversary in 2010, ‘Magpasikat’ challenges the show’s hosts to create captivating performances that resonate with viewers and judges alike. This year, five teams competed as part of ‘It’s Showtime’s’ 15th-anniversary festivities, bringing together some of the best talents from the noontime show’s roster.
