Fans spot Gabriel’s furious response after bizarre Andre Onana tactic in Man Utd vs Arsenal penalty shootout

Erik ten Hag’s side won the encounter and a pre-arranged penalty shootout in America.

Manchester United lost 2-1 to Arsenal on Saturday night, and fans were quick to spot Gabriel’s reaction to Andre Onana’s penalty shootout antics.

Top flight clubs are busy getting ready for the kick-off of the new Premier League campaign next month.

Many have headed out Stateside to play their pre-season schedule, with Erik ten Hag and Mikel Arteta’s sides being two of them.

United have so far suffered defeat at the hands of Norwegian side Rosenborg and victory over Rangers, and have further friendly clashes in the USA against Real Betis and Liverpool coming up.

The Gunners meanwhile drew 1-1 against Bournemouth, and have further pre-season games against Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon still to come.

In Los Angeles on Saturday evening, Arsenal beat United 2-1, after Rasmus Hojlund had given Ten Hag’s side an early lead.

However, the Gunners got back on level terms through Gabriel Jesus, before Gabriel Martinelli netted what proved to be the winner as full-time approached.

Despite Arsenal winning the game in 90 minutes, there was also a pre-arranged penalty shootout which United won 4-3 as Jadon Sancho, who has returned to Old Trafford after a loan spell in the second half of last season at Borussia Dortmund, netted the winning spot kick.

In the shootout victory, Gabriel netted Arsenal’s final penalty as United goalkeeper Onana went the wrong way

The Gunners defender then gestured towards Onana to be quiet, in response to the Cameroon international’s approach to trying to distract the Arsenal players, by moving to one side of his goal in the build-up and suggesting the opposition players shoot in a certain corner.

And taking to social media, Gunners fans were certainly supportive on the defender putting Onana in his place after scoring with the failed mind games.

One wrote: “My CB.”

Another said: “He played the coldest penalty of the night.”

One Gunners fan posted: “My boss Gabi.”

Another wrote: “Quieted Onana up real quick.”

And another fan posted simply: “My Gabi.”

United will take on Manchester City in the Community Shield on August 10 before opening their top flight campaign six days later against Fulham at Old Trafford. Meanwhile, Arsenal begin their campaign versus Wolves at the Emirates Stadium on August 17.
