The Philippine National Police (PNP) said they have secured additional pieces of evidence in line with the murder of beauty queen Geneva Lopez and her Israeli boyfriend Yitshak Cohen in Tarlac.

According to PNP spokesperson Jean Fajardo, the new evidence would be included in the criminal cases they will file against the suspects.

Fajardo didn’t give specific details on the developments but said the charges would be filed possibly next week.

They’re hoping for an “airtight case against those identified responsible for the deaths of Geneva ang Yitshak.”

Last July 8, Department of Interior and Local Government Sec. Benhur Abalos named ex-cops Michael Guiang and Rommel Aboso, as well as civilian Jeffrey Santos, as the suspects behind the deaths Lopez and Cohen.

Abalos noted that the three suspects are under custody but for other cases.

Two individuals named “Junjun” and “Dondon,” meanwhile” voluntarily surrendered.

There are still two others at large as of writing.

According to PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Director Leo Francisco, Guiang pawned land to Lopez, who was already trying to seize the property. Guiang, however, allegedly said there’s a buyer, Aboso, whom he would introduce to her. Franciso said that when they met up, Guiang and Abalos shot the couple to death.

On July 6, Pampanga Gov. Dennis Pineda confirmed the deaths of Lopez and Cohen after authorities found two human remains in a remote area earlier in the day.

They were reported missing by her family on June 21.

Lopez joined Mutya ng Pilipinas Pampanga 2024 as the representative of Sto. Tomas.
