Afternoon viewership continues to decline as GMA’s afternoon prime programs remain on a downward trend in ratings.
According to the latest Nielsen NUTAM People survey, shows like “Abot Kamay Na Pangarap (AKNP),” “Lilet Matias: Attorney-at-Law (LMAAL),” and even “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda (FTWBA)” have all registered declining ratings, suggesting a decrease in engagement from the afternoon audience.
For example, “AKNP” has recorded significantly lower ratings than its previous averages.
On Monday, August 19, “AKNP” scored just 7.0 percent, placing 8th on the overall ratings board. The following day, Tuesday, August 20, the Kapuso afternoon series recovered slightly, increasing by 0.5 percent to 7.5 percent. By Wednesday, August 21, it improved further, registering an 8.3 percent rating and climbing to the number 5 position. However, on Thursday, August 22, it slipped back down to 7.8 percent, dropping two spots to number 7. Finally, on Friday, August 23, the long-running afternoon drama saw another improvement, scoring 8.4 percent and returning to the number 5 spot.
Similarly, “LMAAL,” which follows “AKNP,” has also experienced fluctuating ratings.
On Monday, August 19, “LMAAL” posted a 6.7 percent rating, one of its lowest since its premiere. On Tuesday, August 20, the show recovered, climbing to 7.5 percent, tying with “AKNP” in the 7th spot on the ratings chart. On Wednesday, August 21, “LMAAL” improved further to 8.1 percent but dropped one spot to number 8. However, on Thursday, August 22, it dipped again to 7.5 percent, maintaining its 8th position. Finally, on Friday, August 23, “LMAAL” rebounded slightly, scoring 8.1 percent.
Meanwhile, “FTWBA,” following the lower performance of its lead-in programs, also saw a decline in its ratings compared to its usual numbers. On Monday, August 19, “FTWBA” registered a 3.4 percent rating. This was followed by an improved 4.2 percent on Tuesday, August 20, and a further increase to 4.7 percent on Wednesday, August 21. However, on Thursday, August 22, the show dipped again to 4.3 percent before ending the week with another improvement, scoring 4.8 percent on Friday, August 23.
