The Pinoy Olympian made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics when he became the first Filipino to win two gold medals in two different gymnastics event.
He is also the first Filipino to win any medal in an Olympic gymnastics event.
Carlos Yulo is a Filipino artistic gymnast known for his exceptional skills and achievements in gymnastics. He won two gold medals in gymnastics’ men’s floor exercise and men’s vault in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In a video of a recent ambush interview with ABS-CBN, Carlos gave his take as to what type of support should be given to Pinoy athletes. During the interview with ABS-CBN, Carlos was asked how can the Philipines have more gymnastic champions. The reporter then asked the Pinoy Olympian to set himself as an example when he was just starting out. The Pinoy twin-gold medalist, at the outset, hesitated to answer saying that it’s a big question, but eventually gave his opinion from his own perspective.
In the same interview, Carlos finally has a message for his former Japanese coach, Munehiro Kugimiya. It can be recalled that the Pinoy Olympian trained under the wing of Coach Kugimiya beginning 2016. At the time, Carlos was studying at the Teikyo University in Itabashi, Tokyo under a scholarship program by the Japan Olympic Association. In 2023, after seven years of tutelage, Kugimiya and Carlos parted ways without any bad blood between them.
