Kathryn Bernardo recently shared her personal insights on forgiveness and second chances, a year after her split with longtime partner Daniel Padilla.
The actress, who starred with Padilla in a relationship spanning over a decade, spoke candidly about the topic during a media conference for ‘Hello, Love, Again,’ the anticipated sequel to her 2019 hit ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye.’
“We all hope for a second chance, definitely,” Kathryn said, adding a heartfelt sentiment. “Even ako sa sarili ko, alam ko na magkakamali at magkakamali ako…Personally, I’d do anything to be given that second chance again.” The actress emphasized the importance of respecting each person’s individual beliefs about forgiveness, noting that for some, second chances come more easily than for others. “Some people can give a second chance, some can give multiple chances, and some won’t, and that’s okay. We have to respect that kasi iba-iba naman tayong tao,” she said.
Kathryn further emphasized that forgiveness should be treated as a privilege, not an expectation. “Lagi kong iniisip na forgiveness or second chances isn’t an obligation. It’s a choice and it’s a gift,” she reflected.
‘Hello, Love, Again’ is set to hit theaters on November 13, reuniting Kathryn with Alden Richards. The film is a follow-up to ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye,’ which held the record as the highest-grossing Philippine film of all time until Rewind took the top spot in early 2024. The original film left fans wondering if Joy and Ethan, its main characters, would ever find their way back to each other, a question the sequel is expected to answer.
