Dani Olmo issues come-and-get-me plea to Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea as Spain star’s release clause extended

The attacker has a release clause of £55m with RB Leipzig.

Dani Olmo has commented on a development with his release clause at RB Leipzig amid transfer links to Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.

The 26-year-old is currently on international duty with Spain and is preparing for Sunday’s Euro 2024 final with his nation against England in Berlin’s OlympiaStadion.

Olmo is the tournament’s joint-top scorer with three goals, alongside England’s Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala of Germany, Slovakia’s Ivan Schranz, Cody Gakpo of the Netherlands, and Georgia’s Georges Mikautadze.

Olmo and Spain have won every game they have played at Euro 2024 and are the favourites to win Sunday’s final, having been the most impressive side across the course of the tournament.

After this weekend’s final, all players will switch focus back to their clubs, with Olmo having been with German side RB Leipzig since 2020.

He has scored 29 goals in 148 games for the Bundesliga side during that time and currently has three years left on his contract there, so there is no pressure on Leipzig to sell the attacker.

However, the German side do have a release clause in Olmo’s contract, which would mean he would be allowed to join any club which meets it.

That figure is reported to stand at £55m and several clubs have been credited with an interest in his services.

Though there is a deadline where this release clause must be met, that has now been extended due to recent developments.

According to The Sun, Olmo’s release clause was due to expire the day after the Euro 2024 final on Monday.

But this has now been extended by a week to take into account Spain reaching the final and Olmo’s attentions naturally being on his country and helping them winning the European Championships for a fourth time, rather than his club future at Leipzig.

Clubs including United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Barcelona have been credited with a transfer interest in Olmo, who came through the youth team ranks at the Camp Nou side, before he moved to Croatian outfit Dinamo Zagreb when he was 16 in 2014.

Olmo himself has spoken on the extension to his release clause, and appears to have issued a ‘come-and-get-me’ plea to any sides who are interested in signing him.

He said: “If clubs want me, they know what they can do. There’s time until July 20 for the release clause otherwise later it’d be tough negotiations!

“I’m under contract at Leipzig and I want to win titles.”
