Erik ten Hag has decided on a new transfer target after learning the severity of Rasmus Hojlund’s injury.

Manchester United were hoping to move on from their injury woes of 2023-24, but already they have been hit by two major blows.

Both Rasmus Hojlund and new signing Leny Yoro were forced off during a 2-1 friendly defeat to Arsenal last week, and both are set for extended periods on the sidelines.

Yoro, who was making just his second appearance for the club since making a £52 million move from Lille, is expected to miss around three months with a foot injury.

Hojlund, who had a mixed first season at Old Trafford, has picked up a hamstring injury and will be sidelined four six weeks.

United competed the signing of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna last week in order to ease the striking burden on Hojlund, but now the Dutchman is the only fit striker in the squad.

United boss Ten Hag reportedly wants to bring in another striker to support Zirkzee, and he knows exactly who he wants.

According to The Telegraph, United are weighing up a move for Brentford attacker Ivan Toney.

The 28-year-old has entered the final year of his contract with the Bees, and he is understood to be keen on a move having been linked with United, Tottenham and Arsenal.

Should United stick with their current striking options, then Marcus Rashford could move into a central position as he has done in the past.

The Englishman was forced off in the second half of United’s 3-2 win over Real Betis in San Diego on Wednesday with an injury scare, as was winger Antony.

With the severity of both unclear, Ten Hag will be left sweating with the start of the new Premier League season just two weeks away.
