Chelsea have been extremely busy in the summer transfer window so far having already brought in the likes of Marc Guiu, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Filip Jorgensen, Omari Kellyman, Aaron Anselmino, Renato Veiga, Caleb Wiley, Pedro Neto and Tosin Adarabioyo.

The Blues have also been linked with Napoli front man Victor Osimhen ahead of transfer deadline day.

Speaking after the match, the scorer of the secon goal, Kovacic said: “We are missing some big players but it’s always tough when you miss big players.

“I had a longer break so I could recover better, I wanted to be ready for the beginning of the season.”

He added: “I play today some kind of his role, but we are always missing Rodri because he is, if not the best player, one of the best in the world.
