Pimblett produced a phenomenal performance as he made huge a statement against the toughest opponent of his career.

He made light work of Green, registering the sixth win of his UFC career.

The lightweight star locked in a triangle, putting his opponent to sleep as the referee waved off the contest three minutes and 22 seconds into the first round.

Pimblett’s victory could earn him a top 15 ranking in the UFC lightweight division as he bagged a whopping $200,000 post-fight bonus.

“Statement mate, b**ches,” the Scouse fighter told Daniel Cormier inside the Octagon. “I knew it, I’m the first submit Bobby in the UFC. That’s saying something, that’s a statement. To all you haters out there, that said I would never get a ranking, what now? Have you got to move the goalposts again?

“‘Bobby is a has-been, Bobby has finished’. Well now I’ve got a ranking next to my name so suck this. I have a name everyone wants me to fight Renato Moicano, hopefully he gets through BSD and we’ll see if we can settle it before the end of the year or in the new year.”

The 29-year-old added: “I said beforehand, I’ll say it, the king of the f**king north is here. One sec, I just want to dedicate this fight to little Chaddy the Baddy, seven years of age, lost his life to cancer, seven years old. He called himself Chaddy the Baddy because he’s a baddy fan, his name was Chad Jones, little man that’s for you.”
