PSG accepted shock offer from Premier League club for Kylian Mbappe before Real Madrid move

Kylian Mbappe left Paris Saint Germain for Real Madrid this summer.

Paris Saint Germain reportedly accepted a bid from a Premier League club for Kylian Mbappe before the Frenchman’s move to Real Madrid.

After months of speculation, it was confirmed this summer that French superstar Mbappe had left PSG for Madrid.

On the back of the move being confirmed, the 25-year-old took to social media and wrote: “A dream come true. So happy and proud to join the club of my dream, Real Madrid.

“Nobody can understand how excited I am right now. Can’t wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support. Hala Madrid!”

Mbappe made his competitive debut for Los Blancos earlier in the week when he scored in a 2-0 win over Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup final.

However, things could have been so different as it was reported in the summer of 2023 that PSG accepted a bid from a Premier League side for Mbappe.

Back then, Portuguese journalist Bruno Andrade wrote on social media: “Direct order from Qatar: Mbappe, if he stays at PSG, he won’t play even a minute.

“It’s the scenario of TODAY. French club has already accepted at least two offers for the striker, one from the Premier League and the other from Al Hilal, but there was no agreement between all parties.”

In the past, Mbappe had been linked with a host of different Premier League clubs including Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal.

Speaking at his Madrid presentation, Mbappe said: “I want to thank the president [Florentino Pérez] first. He believed in me from the first day. A lot of things happened, but I want to say thank you.

“I want to thank everyone who has worked for me to come here. I know it was hard but now I’m here, I’m a Real Madrid player.”

He continued: “Since I was a kid I had one dream, to play here. Being here means a lot to me … Now I want to achieve another dream, being at the level of this club, the best in the world. I can say one thing: I’ll give everything for this club and this badge.”
