PSG ‘ready to pay’ €250m for Kylian Mbappe replacement in record-breaking deal

The French giants are seeking a new superstar after losing Mbappe to Real Madrid.

Paris Saint-Germain are on the hunt for a new superstar after losing Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid this summer – and could be willing to break the world record transfer fee again to do so.

Mbappe’s long awaited switch to Madrid was confirmed earlier this summer, and he will officially join the Spanish club at the beginning of July on a free transfer when his PSG contract expires.

The 25-year-old scored 256 goals in 308 matches at the Parc des Princes, becoming PSG’s all-time record goalscorer during his time at the club.

Mbappe is currently away on international duty with France at Euro 2024, as Les Bleus seek to win the European Championships for a third time.

He has joined the Spanish and European champions, and there is the tantalising prospect of him linking up with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo in the seasons to come.

PSG have lost a host of talented stars in recent seasons with Mbappe heading to Real Madrid, Lionel Messi to Inter Miami, and Neymar to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal.

Of course, PSG shattered the world record transfer fee in 2017 when the French side paid €222m (£188m) to Barcelona for Neymar, which was the Brazilian’s release clause at the Camp Nou.

And it is possible PSG could once again break the world record transfer fee for a Barca player as they seek an Mbappe replacement.

According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, PSG are prepared to stump up a remarkable €250m (£211m) for Barcelona star Lamine Yamal.

The 16-year-old has seven goals in 51 games for Barca, and is currently away on international duty himself with Spain at Euro 2024, with two goals in 10 caps.

In the past, it has been reported that PSG have been prepared to pay €200m for Yamal’s services.

But with Mbappe’s exit, it appears the Paris side are willing to increase their offer for Yamal.

However, despite a new world record transfer fee being on offer, Barca are clear they do not want to sell Yamal under any circumstances.

The winger’s Barca contract expires in the summer of 2026, so the Catalan giants are under no immediate pressure to sell the La Masia product.

But it remains to be seen if the potential offer for Yamal proves too enticing to turn down.
