Roy Keane has predicted what will happen during England’s Euro 2024 semi-final against the Netherlands.
England secured their place in the semi-final of Euro 2024 on Saturday, scoring all five spot kicks to claim a 5-3 penalty victory over Switzerland after playing out a 1-1 draw.
Cole Palmer, Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka, Ivan Toney and Trent Alexander-Arnold stepped up and emphatically netted their penalties, while Jordan Pickford did well to save Manuel Akanji’s opening spot-kick.
The victory set up a semi-final with the Netherlands, who came from 1-0 down to beat Turkey 2-1 in their quarter-final. The winner of Wednesday’s encounter will secure a place in the final against either France or Spain.
And speaking on the Overlap, courtesy of Sky Bet, Keane insisted that England had the edge over their semi-final opponents ahead of Wednesday’s clash in Dortmund.
Keane said: “England are in a great place. If you’re in that England camp – it’s about peaking at the right time, staying in games, (having) match winners … and players producing – that was world-class.
“Even the penalties, the lads coming off the bench scoring goals, if you’re Gareth Southgate’s players, I’m telling you – it’s going along nicely.”
He added: “I fancy England to win the semi-final.

“We watched the game – Turkey and Holland – and England will beat Holland.
“But with that level of performance against France or Spain, if they’re at it, it probably wouldn’t be enough – you cross that bridge when you get to it.”
Keane concluded: “Emotionally, the energy levels are back up there with England, Gareth (Southgate) was upbeat – that’s what a win gives you.”
