SPAIN-ENGLAND: “IT’S MY LAST MATCH”, JESUS NAVAS ANNOUNCES HIS INTERNATIONAL RETIREMENT AFTER THE FINAL

Present at a press conference on the eve of the Euro final against England (9 p.m.), Jesus Navas confirmed that this will be his last match with La Roja.

The last dance. On the eve of the Euro final between Spain and England , this Sunday in Berlin (9pm), Jesus Navas announced that this match would be his last with the Roja jersey. “It’s my last match. I’ve had problems with my hip for a while, but football is everything to me. I insist on the will I’ve always had to give everything. You have to die at every moment. It’s something unique, and it’s a source of pride for me (to be considered a legend in Spain). Knowing that if I continue after so long, it’s because I’ve worked hard,” he confided, very moved, to the Iberian journalists. “At 38, it’s incredible to continue playing.”

He plans to hang up his boots in December.

At 38, the defender with 56 caps (since 2009) has won everything with La Roja, including a World Cup, a Euro and a Nations League. But he hopes to add one last line to his list of achievements at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. “England is a great team, with individual talent. It’s going to be a tough match, but we’re playing a great competition. It would be great to win the Euro, especially for the teammates, for the fans who deserve it,” recalled Jesus Navas .

Under contract until December 2024 with FC Sevilla, the right-back confirmed that he should not go beyond the end of the year with the Andalusian club. “I decided to stay until December in a complicated situation for Sevilla. It’s my job as captain.”
