TV host Willie Revillame has publicly expressed his dissatisfaction with GMA Network following the release of Nielsen Philippines ratings, which showed ‘Family Feud’ outperforming his new show, ‘Wil to Win,’ on TV5.

In a recent episode aired this past Tuesday, Revillame appeared to address the ratings issue indirectly, with ‘Family Feud’ achieving a rating of 9.6% compared to the 2.7% garnered by ‘Wil to Win’ during its pilot episode.

Revillame dismissed the significance of the ratings, emphasizing that the true measure of success is the show’s impact on its audience. “Para sa akin, ang rating ay kayo [mga tao],” he stated, reinforcing his belief that the value of his show is determined by viewer engagement rather than numerical ratings.

The TV host also claimed that the ratings have no bearing on their mission. “Kung may nakikita kayong ratings nila, na mataas sila, hindi ho kami naaapektuhan. Kasi ang puso namin, magbigay ng saya at pag-asa sa inyo,” Revillame added.

Additionally, Revillame criticized ‘Family Feud’ for not being an original production. “Ang importante, ang show na ito ay original. Inisip ito para sa inyo. Hindi ito binibili sa ibang bansa. Ito po ay habangbuhay, pag kaya namin may programa kayo,” he said, highlighting the originality of his own program.

Revillame also suggested that GMA Network was engaging in a deliberate competitive strategy by airing a program featuring his daughter, Meryll Soriano, and actress Maricel Soriano during the same time slot as his show’s debut. “Ang nakakatuwa ho, nung nag-live ako kahapon yung anak ko (Meryll Soriano) at si Ms. Maricel at ‘yung aking mga ano, tinapat pa sa programa ko. Ibig sabihin, bakit? Ano ba to labanan ba to?” he remarked.

Willie Revillame’s ‘Wil to Win’ premiered on TV5 on July 15, and his comments reflect ongoing tensions in the competitive television landscape.
