Kim Chiu broke into tears as she responded to a hypothetical question on how she would react if she bumped into her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend.
The TV host – whose breakup with her longtime boyfriend Xian Lim was confirmed last December – was put on the hot seat during an episode of the noontime show “It’s Showtime” on Monday, July 22.
The topic about exes was brought up during the “EXpecially for You” segment when Chiu’s fellow host Vice Ganda asked their co-host Jackie Gonzaga, who also earlier broke up with her longtime boyfriend Tom Doromal, a hypothetical question.
“Kung sakaling meron ka nang boyfriend, sasadyain mo bang makita niya (ex-boyfriend) kayo o kung magkikita kayo, iiwas ka na lang?” Vice Ganda asked.
Gonzaga replied, “Makita at makita mo — ito ‘yun e. Hindi na para magtago. Hello? Pinagdasal ko ‘to. Itatago ko pa ba?”
However, Gonzaga admitted that if she would bump into her ex-boyfriend in her current state and see him with a new girlfriend, she would feel hurt and cry over it.
As Gonzaga turned emotional while answering the questions, a teary-eyed Chiu was watching her. Their fellow hosts Vhong Navarro and Jhong Hilario noticed this, then turned the attention to Chiu.
Gonzaga willingly obliged to Navarro and Hilario’s teasing remarks and asked Chiu, “Sa estado ng pagkatao mo ngayon, nagkasalubong kayo sa hallway [tapos] kasama na niya ‘yung bago niya, anong gagawin mo?”
Chiu initially laughed it off, then proceeded to answer, “Gano’n naman kasi talaga ang buhay. Hindi naman binibigay ni God ‘yung mga hardest battle niya to his strongest soldiers—Ha! Naiiyak ako!”
“Haharap [ako], syempre!” she continued as she tried to hold back her tears but failed. “Hindi ka dapat tumatalikod sa mga bagay na magpapalakas sa’yo.”
