Man Utd fans left stunned after finding out how much Donny van de Beek will be sold for

The midfielder is set to leave United this summer.

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek is set to depart the club for Girona, and the transfer fee is shocking.

Dutch midfielder Van de Beek has struggled to find a regular place in the Manchester United squad since joining in September 2020.

In four seasons at the club, the 27-year-old has just 63 appearances in all competitions, with most of them coming off the bench.

And, with his contract set to expire next year, Van de Beek is reportedly set to join La Liga club Girona, for a measly fee of £430,000.

The reports come from Spanish sports website Relevo, who claim that the midfielder will be sold for just half a million Euros this summer.

And fans are not happy after hearing how little the transfer fee will be.

Reacting to the news on X, one fan wrote: “Please ….this must be a joke ,🤣🤣”

Another added: “Disaster of a deal.”

With Van de Beek looking like one of the most promising young midfielders in Europe when he came to the Premier League, one fan reflected on what could have been.

They wrote: “He had so much potential. What happened?”

Another fan agreed, adding: “He was ranked 28 in the Ballon D’or the year we bought him. Shame it did not work out under 3 managers. But why on earth are we selling him for 500k ffs”

United paid £35million for Van de Beek in 2020, signing him from Dutch club Ajax who, at the time, were managed by current United boss Erik ten Hag.

The midfielder played under Ten Hag for two and a half seasons at Ajax but, with Van de beek spending much of his time with the Manchester club on loan elsewhere, the pair have not had much time together at United.

For the second half of the 2021/22 season, the midfielder went to fellow Premier League club Everton on loan, whereas he went abroad to Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt in January this year for the latter part of the 2023/24 season.

The German club had the option to buy the midfielder at the end of his loan, with the fee believed to be €11 million, but ultimately opted against it.

But United fans will be pleased to hear that Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the deal could go up to €4/5m in total, depending on the midfielder’s appearances for Girona.
