Barbie Forteza takes on a lead role in new thriller ‘Penthouse 77’
Kapuso actress Barbie Forteza is set to return to the big screen with her latest project, ‘Penthouse 77’ (P77), a psychological thriller directed by award-winning filmmaker Derick Cabrido.
The film, produced by GMA Pictures in collaboration with Clever Minds Inc., also features notable actors including ‘Firefly’ star Euwenn Mikaell, Gina Pareño, and Rosanna Roces.
‘Penthouse 77’ explores the theme of homelessness amid a bustling city filled with both skyscrapers and slums. The film, written by Joaquin Santos, dives deep into the complexities of survival in an urban landscape.
Although the exact release date and full cast details have yet to be announced, excitement has been building since GMA Pictures first teased Barbie’s involvement in a horror-thriller project earlier this year.
Barbie’s role in ‘Penthouse 77’ comes after the success of her romantic comedy ‘That Kind of Love,’ where she starred opposite David Licauco. The film, currently streaming on Netflix, has topped the platform’s “Top 10 Movies in the Philippines Today.”
While her latest movie doesn’t include Licauco, their on-screen chemistry continues to delight fans in GMA Network’s primetime series ‘Pulang Araw,’ where they star alongside Alden Richards, Sanya Lopez, and Dennis Trillo.
Barbie’s expanding portfolio, from romance to psychological thrillers, showcases her versatility as an actress. As fans eagerly await the release of ‘Penthouse 77,’ it’s clear that Barbie continues to solidify her place as one of the most sought-after stars in the industry.
