David Licauco has found a renewed love for acting after joining the cast of GMA Network’s prime time drama ‘Pulang Araw.’
In a recent interview on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’ this Friday, Licauco, along with his Japanese co-stars Jacky Woo, Jay Ortega, and Ryo Nagatsuka, opened up about their experiences working on the show.
Veteran host Boy Abunda commended the four actors for the show’s success, highlighting David’s standout performance in the series, which has captivated many viewers.
Licauco expressed gratitude for the recognition, revealing that the project shifted his perspective on acting. “Actually, Tito Boy, I would say na Pulang Araw really change my perspective with acting… kaya ginagalingan ko,” said Licauco.
He further shared his journey towards refining his craft, saying, “Siguro aral lang din talaga. Aral ako nang aral ng acting, maraming trial and error. I think before Pulang Araw kasi sinet ko ‘yung – parang nagkaro’n ako ng goal na gusto kong, hopefully, manalo ng award.”
With a newfound dedication, David remarked, “Mahal na mahal ko na ‘yung acting ngayon. Mahal ko na talaga ang craft.”
Despite his passion, Licauco admitted that working alongside established actors in the series has brought its own set of challenges. “Masaya, at the same time, nakaka-pressure,” he said, referring to his talented co-stars.
Portraying Hiroshi, a Japanese immigrant turned translator for the Japanese Imperial Army, has been a demanding role for the actor. “Every day kailangan ko siyang i-memorize. It takes me two days, three days para i-memorize ‘yung Japanese lines and on top of that ‘yung acting pa. Siyempre kasama ko rito mga batikan na, sina Dennis [Trillo], Alden [Richards], Barbie [Forteza], Sanya [Lopez],” Licauco shared.
As Pulang Araw continues to garner attention, David Licauco’s performance stands out, showcasing his growth and commitment to his evolving career in acting.
