The Kapamilya actress notably topbilled a number of top charting TV shows on Viu and Netflix.
Jodi Sta. Maria continues to hit milestones in her stellar career. Emerging as one of ABS-CBN’s prime actresses when she played Amor Powers in the 2016 reiteration of the classic series, Pangako Sa’yo, she further catapulted to prominence during the pandemic, with many of her shows topping the rating charts, as well as giving her top accolades, here in abroad.
Much of those accolades are made possible by Sta. Maria’s breakthrough shows that were made available via several OTT platforms. OTT or over-the-top platforms, distribute different content to audiences globally, allowing them watch their favorite shows, movies, or documentaries, on their preferred schedule.
The Broken Marriage Vow, proved to be a break, Sta. Maria has been waiting patiently for. The series, not only gave her the 2022 Asian Academy Creative Awards Best Actress trophy, it also topped Viu Philippines’ most watched list. Similarly, Unbreak My Heart, ABS-CBN and GMA Network’s first collaboration series, also topped Viu Philippines’ most streamed content, during its run.
And now, with Lavender Fields, Sta. Maria is solidifying her name as among OTT royalties in local showbiz. Moving to Netflix, the actress, as one can say, is currently, the queen of the streaming giant in the Philippines, with Lavender Fields, becoming the number one TV series, in the country, ahead of its television premiere, today, September 2.
Sta. Maria’s growing prominence on streaming platforms seem to challenge fellow Kapamilya star, Kim Chiu, whose Linlang and What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim, topped and made waves on Prime Video and Viu Philippines, respectively. That said, it is not difficult to say that Sta. Maria’s time is now, and she is definitely “queening” Netflix with Lavender Fields.
