Veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez has spoken out to refute rumors about the alleged breakup of her son, Arjo Atayde, and Maine Mendoza.
The rumors gained traction after a now-deleted tweet from Mendoza, which some interpreted as an apology to Sanchez.
In the ‘Showbiz Update’ episode hosted by Ogie Diaz and Mama Loi, the issue was addressed head-on. Diaz revealed that numerous people had inquired about the veracity of the breakup rumors, prompting him to ask Sylvia directly.
Sylvia firmly denied the rumors, stating, “Ay mare, ‘yan ang ‘di totoo. Kakarating lang nila galing Bangkok.” She clarified that Arjo and Maine had enjoyed a trip to Bangkok with Maine’s family, and the couple was happy.
Addressing the deleted tweet, Sylvia suggested that it might have been misunderstood and was unrelated to any breakup. She also laughed off additional rumors about a supposed third party, involving an actress with whom Arjo allegedly had a child, dismissing them as baseless gossip.
Diaz, emphasizing the absurdity of the rumors, humorously sang ‘If We Hold On Together’ and underscored Sylvia’s credibility by saying, “Nagsalita na si Ibyang. Hindi naman magsisinungaling sa ‘kin ‘yang si Sylvia Sanchez.”
As Arjo and Maine prepare to celebrate their first wedding anniversary on July 28, Sylvia’s statements aim to put an end to the unfounded rumors and assure fans of the couple’s continued happiness.
