Philadelphia 76ers shooting guard Tyrese Maxey has recently drawn attention for an unexpected

reason. Despite earning the Sportsmanship Award for the 2023-24 season, a recognition given by the rest of the NBA’s players, who value the way he performs both on and off the court. Maxey’s offseason workout regimen has come to the forefront.

A video of the 23-year-old star working out with renowned trainer Chris Johnson went viral, showing Maxey in what appeared to be his peak physical condition. The clip, which showcased his impressive musculature, drew comparisons to an NFL linebacker rather than an NBA shooting guard. This sudden display of strength and size raised eyebrows, not only among fans, but also within the NBA offices.

With Paul George joining the 76ers, expectations for Maxey had never been higher. Determined to rise to the occasion, Maxey has clearly worked hard to broaden his shoulders and improve his game. However, the intensity of his transformation had unintended consequences.

After the video went viral, Maxey revealed on social media platform X that the NBA had drug tested him. “I really got drug tested because of y’all,” he wrote, accompanied by a couple of laughing emojis, acknowledging the unexpected scrutiny his workout video had brought him.

Despite the unexpected drug test, Maxey remains one of the NBA’s most beloved figures, known for his gracious demeanor and hard work. As he prepares for the upcoming season, fans and critics will undoubtedly be watching closely, albeit for very different reasons.
