Xian Lim understands why Kim Chiu’s fans feel betrayed by their breakup

In a recent interview on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,’ actor and director Xian Lim addressed the controversy surrounding his breakup with ex-girlfriend Kim Chiu, making it clear that he was not the one who initiated the separation.

“To be completely honest, I wasn’t the one who engaged in the separation,” Xian revealed. “It’s that simple. I wasn’t the one who initiated the breakup.”

When asked if he and Kim remain friends after the breakup, Xian confirmed their amicable relationship, although they have not spoken since the separation. “Of course, of course. Nagulat ako sa tanong. Of course, yes! Ever since we went our separate ways, hindi pa po kami nakakapag-usap. But when that night happened, maayos yung pag-uusap namin. Of course, merong iyakan, but there was that assurance na we went through twelve years, di ba? Twelve years of our existence so it has that respect.”

Xian acknowledged the complexity of their public relationship and the strong reactions from Kim’s fans. “Ang dami kasing kuwento. Yun nga yung mahirap sa isang public relationship. They’ve been there since day one nung panliligaw pa lang, all the way to more than a decade. People come up with all these made up lies kung anuman but we released our statement na we both decided to part ways.”

Boy Abunda asked if Xian would prefer if they had not broken up, to which he responded, “It’s such a delicate… I understand why the supporters are angry. I understand why they feel betrayed. Pero masakit din ‘yun para sa amin. They’re watching it from a distance. Eto kaming dalawa and we have our talks. Nag-usap kami privately. Hindi na kailangan pang himayin kung sino ang nagkulang. I think the length of it speaks for itself.”

Addressing accusations that he is using the breakup to promote his new movie “Playtime,” which is now showing in cinemas, Xian said, “It’s just sad na maraming intriga na lumalabas, especially against me. And I don’t wanna make it seem, like, ‘O bakit yan si Xian, ang ingay-ingay ngayon? Kung anu-ano ang pinagsasasabi because may pelikula?’ It’s just a very delicate thing and I do understand why people are upset, but we are okay.”

Xian’s statements underscore the challenges of navigating a high-profile relationship and the emotional impact of public scrutiny.
