Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano, collectively known as DonBelle, have reached another milestone as their hit series ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ became the number one Filipino show on Netflix for the first half of 2024.
The streaming giant released its list of the most-watched series based on viewership and total watch hours. Despite only being available in the Philippines, ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ garnered an impressive 1 million views and accumulated 54.8 million watch hours. This solidifies the status of DonBelle as the “Phenomenal Gen Z Love Team.”
Trailing behind is Netflix’s original series ‘Replacing Chef Chico,’ featuring Piolo Pascual, Sam Milby, and Alessandra De Rossi, with 700,000 views and 3 million watch hours. The third spot was secured by GMA Network’s ‘Royal Blood,’ led by Dingdong Dantes, with 300,000 views and 9 million watch hours.
Even among older series, DonBelle continues to shine. Their previous hit, ‘He’s Into Her,’ still ranks highly with 300,000 views and 1.7 million watch hours. GMA Network’s ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra’ followed with 100,000 views and 4.9 million watch hours, while Maja Salvador’s ‘Wildflower’ ranked third with 100,000 views and 4.6 million watch hours.
The overwhelming success of ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ is a testament to the widespread popularity of DonBelle, whose on-screen chemistry has captivated audiences.
Looking ahead, fans are eagerly anticipating the duo’s first teleserye under Dreamscape Entertainment. While Dreamscape has yet to confirm the lead stars for the upcoming project, many speculate that DonBelle will headline, following a teaser art card release.
